No One Stands Alone – Join the Rapid Response Team

Meet Katia Ortiz, the newest member of the San Diego Organizing Project (SDOP). As the new coordinator for our Rapid Response Team, she's here to tell you how to support our brothers and sisters who are undocumented.

October 11, 2017

I want to personally thank you all for joining us on April 19 for our Faith Not Fear Summit. Thanks to your voices, we can stand together to make our communities better for our people.

We still need your help. Join us by volunteering for one of our Rapid Response teams.

What is Rapid Response and why do we need it?

As people of faith, we must protect our communities so that no one stands alone during immigration raids.

We've joined forces with a broad coalition of partners and allies to create and run a regional system that will respond to reports of immigration raids, arrests, abuses and family separations.

The San Diego Rapid Response Network is planning trainings for volunteers that want to assist and help families that are in danger. Together, we will provide our community with a safe and trusted method to report immigration authorities.

How can I help?

Join our team as a:

  • Dispatcher: help us answer calls or reports
  • Rapid Responder: verify any raids and observe
  • Accompaniment team: help us support families affected by deportation

Every single one of us was made to perfection in God's eyes. If you have any other talents that you can use to help us, or you want to know of any other ways you can help, feel free to email me, and I'm happy to provide any information or refer you to any of our partners.

We will keep you updated about any workshops and trainings that are available.

If you need any additional information or feel like this is your calling, please contact me

Love,

Katia Ortiz
