Proposition I Passes!
June 09, 2016
With over 63% of the vote, San Diegans overwhelmingly passed Prop I. Prop I will immediately improve the lives of San Diego families who work hard and are not paid enough to make ends meet. One of every four people employed in San Diego will get a raise, and 95% of those who will benefit are 20 year of age or older; a third are raising children; many are veterans; and over half are women.
This victory would not have been possible without:
- the partners at the Raise Up Coalition that fought hard every day,
- the support of the business leaders that stepped out and supported increasing the minimum wage,
- the minimum wage workers who worked tirelessly to support the campaign,
- or the countless organizations, donors, volunteers, allies, supporters, etc. who believed no San Diegan who works hard deserves to live in poverty.
We thank you for your support over these last two years. It was critical to getting us across the finish line. I hope you are as proud as I am to have been a part of the team that fought every day to improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of San Diegans!
