Prioritizing Community Issues

SDOP puts people first. The organization tackles issues such as housing, health care, education, and safety because of the stories we hear daily from our families.

  • We work on housing because our families are seeing the dream of owning a home moving further and further beyond their reach.
  • We work on health care because over 55% of our families are working, but uninsured.
  • We work on safety issues because our families want to raise their children in a community hope, not violence.

The issues which SDOP addresses surface out of local neighborhoods and congregations. Sometimes, they get resolved locally. Other issues cut across neighborhoods and are tackled by the entire organization.
